About the Role
Our client is a Federal government organisation based in North Sydney NSW. They are currently seeking an EL2 Senior Manager - Communications & Engagement to come in and join their team on a 12 month temp assignment with possibility for extension.
Requirements for this role include:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of training and experience in communications, community engagement or stakeholder engagement.
- Deep understanding of stakeholder and community engagement principles, public sector governance, and service delivery frameworks.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in community or stakeholder engagement, with demonstrated leadership in major infrastructure during planning and delivery, government, or public affairs settings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Direction & Engagement Leadership: Set the strategic vision, develop long-term communications and engagement plans, and align community engagement strategies with the Authority’s broader objectives and government priorities.
- Team Leadership & Capacity Building: Lead and mentor a team of engagement professionals, fostering a collaborative, customer-centric, and high-quality culture across the organisation.
- Complex Issues Management & Escalation: Serve as the principal advisory and escalation point for managing high-risk, complex, or sensitive stakeholder issues including property acquisition, planning approvals, and construction impacts.
- Strategic Stakeholder Negotiation & Advocacy: Represent and advocate for the Authority in sensitive discussions, establishing strong internal/external networks to build social license, mitigate emerging risks, and maintain stakeholder trust.
- Operational Delivery & Digital Systems Management: Oversee day-to-day engagement operations, including the creation of inclusive communication materials, procurement, administrative functions, and data management in systems like Consultation Manager.
- Sentiment Monitoring & Risk Reporting: Track community trends, analyse stakeholder sentiment, and deliver strategic reports to senior leadership to inform decision-making and mitigate project risks.
- Governance, Compliance & Best Practice: Ensure all engagement and communication activities adhere to relevant legislative frameworks, government policies, quality assurance standards, and industry best practices.
