We are currently inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from skilled finance and tax professionals across a wide range of classifications, from APS4 through to EL2.
Due to critical business needs, we are looking to build a talent pipeline of specialists to support a complex government taxation function. Whether you are an emerging finance officer or a seasoned Executive Level leader, we want to hear from you.
Current Priority Areas While we welcome applications from generalist tax officers, we have an urgent and active requirement for candidates with expertise in the following two areas:
1. Systems Officer (Finance) We are seeking technical specialists to drive financial systems efficiency.
Must-have: Demonstrated expertise with SAP software.
Key focus: System maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimisation of financial modules.
2. Tax Accountant / Tax Officer We are looking for subject matter experts capable of navigating complex government tax environments.
Must-have: Strong experience in Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and tax policy advice.
Key focus: Providing high-level advice on FBT implications, interpreting legislation, and supporting the internal tax function with policy guidance.
Key Responsibilities (Varying by Level)
Delivering accurate and timely advice on taxation matters, specifically FBT.
Managing and optimising financial systems (SAP).
Interpreting and applying government taxation policy.
Preparing tax returns, BAS, and FBT returns.
Stakeholder management and technical reporting.
About You To be successful in this talent pool, you will possess:
Citizenship: Australian Citizenship (mandatory for most APS roles).
- NV1 Clearance
Qualifications: A degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline (CA/CPA highly desirable for senior roles).
Experience: Previous experience within the Federal or State Government is highly regarded, particularly regarding internal tax functions.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAP (for Systems roles) or deep knowledge of FBT legislation (for Tax roles).
