Head of Finance – Japan■ Company OverviewOur client is an established global technology consulting and digital business solutions organisation delivering enterprise-scale transformation services across key international markets. Operating with a substantial footprint in Japan, the company partners with major domestic and multinational corporations to modernise digital operations and technology infrastructure. The Japan entity serves as a vital growth engine within the broader group, balancing local business agility with multinational corporate governance.■ The OpportunityThis senior leadership appointment offers total oversight of the accounting and finance function for our client’s corporate entity in Japan. Collaborating closely with executive leadership in Tokyo and reporting into global headquarters, the incoming leader will safeguard financial integrity, maintain robust multi-standard statutory compliance, and guide sustainable commercial growth. ■ Key Responsibilities・Direct the statutory accounting and reporting function, supervising end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycles under J-GAAP and IFRS in alignment with group policies.・Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and mid-term commercial planning, providing variance analyses and strategic counsel directly to executive decision-makers.・Act as a core commercial business partner to operational teams, defining business KPIs, identifying revenue and cost optimisation opportunities, and evaluating investments or corporate transactions.・Oversee corporate taxation affairs, including corporate and consumption tax submissions, cross-border transfer pricing policies, and representation during official tax audits.・Maintain and evaluate internal control environments to ensure full J-SOX compliance, mitigate operational risks, and manage coordination with external audit bodies.・Steer treasury and capital management operations, including cash forecasting, liquidity optimisation, banking relationships, and foreign exchange exposure control.・Lead, mentor, and build capability across the local finance organisation, promoting career progression, succession planning, and the adoption of modern finance automation and digital workflows.■ What the Role Offers・Direct strategic influence over the financial governance and commercial trajectory of a major Japan entity.・Extensive international exposure through close collaboration with overseas corporate headquarters and regional executives.・A broad, impactful mandate encompassing technical compliance, operational modernization, and strategic business partnership.・A professional work environment supported by comprehensive employee benefits and flexible hybrid working arrangements.
求められる経験
■ Required Experience and Skills
・At least 10 years of progressive professional experience across financial accounting, corporate taxation, and financial management.
・A minimum of 5 years in a formal leadership or supervisory capacity at Manager level or above.
・Demonstrated track record of holding ultimate operational responsibility for fiscal year-end and monthly closing procedures.
・Direct experience negotiating and coordinating with external statutory audit partners and licensed tax counsel.
・Fluent-evel Japanese communication skills, capable of addressing nuanced commercial, regulatory, and organisational matters.
・Advanced professional business English proficiency, sufficient to independently lead executive presentations, international alignments, and cross-border discussions.
■ Preferred Qualifications
・Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
・Professional financial credentials, including CPA, USCPA, or Certified Public Tax Accountant (Zeirishi) licensing.
・Substantial working experience within a multinational or global matrix corporate structure.
