Key duties and responsibilities
- Investigate current practices. Gain an understanding of existing business processes, procedures and work practices. This involves detailed discussions with stakeholders, reviewing documentation and observing operations.
- Identify inefficiencies. Look for gaps, bottlenecks, redundancies, and other inefficiencies within the current systems. This may involve data analysis, process mapping and stakeholder feedback, including collaborating with system developers to ensure that the system meets the specified requirements and functions as intended.
- Develop detailed project plan based on your initial investigations to define the scope, timeline, resources and deliverables. Estimate project milestones to ensure delivery of system requirements meet the set deadlines.
- Recommend functional improvements or system enhancements. Propose optimal business practices and system functionalities that can enhance efficiency, reduce costs, or improve user satisfaction. This may involve upgrading existing systems, integrating new technologies or customising software solutions. Support your recommended improvements with tools like SWOT, root cause and gap analysis to create clear and detailed system specifications.
- Assess system performance. Evaluate the current system’s performance and functionality. This may involve performance testing, user feedback and comparing other industry benchmarks.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies. In consultation with the business area review and update the risk management plan throughout the project.
- Review documentation and training materials. Evaluate existing user and training documentation and recommend solutions where gaps or inefficiencies are identified.
Technical skills
- Software proficiency.
- Familiarity with financial management and client service management systems and well-developed understanding of programme languages and software development methodologies.
- Project management skills.
- Ability to develop and adhere to project plans and organise time and resources effectively.
- Proficiency in identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks.
