Do you know your "fronted adverbials" from your "subordinate clauses"?
Can you be the motivating voice that helps a Year 6 pupil feel confident ahead of their SATs?
Are you looking for a role where you can focus on academic progress without the stress of planning lessons at home?
If you answered "yes," Randstad Education wants to hear from you. We are currently experiencing high demand from Primary schools across Leeds for confident KS2 Teaching Assistants to join our supply team.
Key Stage 2 is a vital time in a child's education. Schools need staff who can hit the ground running, support the curriculum, and manage the more complex social dynamics of children aged 7-11. Whether you want to work 5 days a week or just 2, supply gives you the freedom to decide.
The Role
Working in KS2 requires a different skillset to the Early Years. You will be:
The Intervention Lead: Taking small groups out of class to boost their skills in Maths (Long Division/Fractions) and English (SPaG/Reading Comprehension).
SATs Support: Helping Year 6 teachers prepare students for their exams, often providing targeted 1:1 support for borderline pupils.
Behaviour Management: using positive strategies to manage behaviour in older children, ensuring the classroom remains a focused learning environment.
Classroom Management: Covering the class for short periods (if required) or assisting supply teachers in delivering pre-planned work.

Academic Skills: You must be confident in your own literacy and numeracy skills to effectively support upper KS2 students.
