Job Description: Manager - Carrier Relations (Ocean Procurement)
Location: Mumbai / Gurugram
Type: Full-Time | Strategic Supply | Ocean Freight
Experience: min 10 Years (Strictly in Freight Forwarding / NVOCC)
What You Will Do
- Strategic Procurement: Negotiate FCL freight rates, free days, and credit terms with major Shipping Lines
- Relationship Management: Leverage your personal network to get things done. You should know the hierarchy at the linesfrom the Sales Executives to the Trade Managers and Captainsin Mumbai, Gujarat, or Delhi.
- Inventory & Space Management: Secure space allocations during peak seasons. Manage "Dead Freight" contracts and ensure we fulfill our volume commitments to lines to avoid penalties.
- Advanced Contracting: Handle Rate Filings, Named Account Contracts (NACs), and Spot Rate negotiations. Experience with Slot Arrangements/Slot Swaps is a massive advantage.
- Internal Service Delivery: You are the internal service provider to our Sales team. You must set up a system to process high volumes of rate enquiries rapidly, prioritizing the "hot" leads without losing speed.
Who You Are
- The "Rolodex" Factor: You must have pre-existing, active relationships with Shipping Lines in major Indian hubs (Mumbai, Gujarat, or Delhi). If you have to
look up the number of a Trade Manager on LinkedIn, this role is not for you.
- Industry Veteran: You come from a Freight Forwarding or NVOCC background. You understand the difference between a "filing rate" and a "spot
rate," and you know how NVOCC slot mechanics work.
- High-Volume Resilience: You don't panic when 50 emails hit your inbox in an hour. You have the mental bandwidth to multitasknegotiating a contract on
the phone while approving a rate on the system.
- Commercial Shark: You fight for every dollar. You understand that a $10 difference in procurement often dictates whether we win or lose a shipment.
