Senior Project Manager - Contract role
Our client is looking to hire a Senior Project Manager who will provide structured delivery leadership across multiple workstreams within the Programme’s different phases. This will be a Wellington-based 12-month contract role.
Key responsibilities
- Lead delivery across key workstreams within the Programme, ensuring progress against agreed outcomes
- Develop and maintain delivery plans, milestones, risks, and dependencies across a complex delivery environment
- Provide clear oversight of delivery status, including risks, issues, and mitigations
- Drive accountability across workstreams, ensuring delivery expectations are met
- Work closely with the Programme Manager to prioritise work and adapt to changing priorities
- Coordinate across multiple workstreams to ensure alignment
- Support and lead governance reporting
- Enable decision-making by providing clear, timely information and recommendations
- Maintain a structured and calm delivery approach in a fast-paced environment

- Delivery leadership – able to lead workstreams, drive progress, and hold stakeholders accountable
- Structured project management – brings clarity through planning, tracking, and disciplined management of risks and dependencies
- Comfortable working at pace – able to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities
- Calm under pressure – maintains stability and direction in complex or uncertain situations
- Stakeholder management – confident working with senior stakeholders across government and external providers
- Clear communication – able to provide concise, fit-for-purpose reporting for governance and delivery audiences
- Pragmatic problem solving – takes a practical approach to resolving issues and maintaining momentum
- Relationship building – builds trust quickly and works effectively across teams and workstreams
- Experience in regulatory and policy environments – understands how policy, legislation, and delivery interact, and can operate effectively where requirements are evolving
