POSITION OVERVIEWThe Senior FP&A & Commissions Control Analyst is a pivotal role within the Finance organization, designed to ensure robust financial governance, process standardization, and operational continuity across critical expense drivers.
In this dual-impact position, the individual will serve as the first-line supervisor, hands-on operational backup, and primary technical escalation point for the offshore Commissions team. They will be directly accountable for the accuracy, control, and end-to-end execution of the monthly commissions calculations for various existing schemes based on provided HR and financial data.
In addition to supervisory duties, the candidate will actively execute commission calculations alongside the Commission Calculation Specialist (Manoj) during peak execution windows and serve as the sole operational substitute during his absences or leave.
Once the monthly commissions workflow is secured and standardized, the candidate will leverage their freed-up analytical capacity to support the onshore Corporate FP&A team. This includes managing day-to-day operating expenses (OpEx) control, variance analysis for operational entities and corporate support functions (IT, Marketing, HR, Finance, Legal), and management reporting.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Oversight, Direct Execution & Governance of Commissions Operations (Primary Accountability)
First-Line Technical Oversight: Directly review, validate, and sign off on all monthly commission calculations, adjustment macros, and payroll import files produced prior to submission to onshore teams.
Hands-On Calculation & Production Support: Actively execute commission calculations across complex schemes in direct support of the Commission Calculation Specialist during peak monthly processing cycles to meet tight payroll deadlines.
Full Operational Continuity & Coverage: Serve as the designated primary backup for the entire commissions portfolio, maintaining full end-to-end operational capability to step in and execute all calculations, adjustments, and imports whenever the Commission Calculation Specialist is absent, on leave, or unavailable.
Quality Assurance & Error Prevention: Perform root-cause analysis on calculation anomalies, data mismatches, and historical adjustments (prior-period corrections, guaranteed minimums, special assignments).
Transition SOP Validation & Standardization: Validate, audit, and finalize all existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as part of the official transition of the commissions function from the HR team to the Finance team. 2. Corporate FP&A, Performance Control & OpEx Management
OpEx & Support Function Control: Track, monitor, and analyze actual operating expenses versus budget/forecast for corporate support functions (IT, Marketing, Legal, Finance, HR).
Variance Analysis & Financial Reporting: Monthly identification and commentary on cost drivers, run-rate anomalies, and financial risks/opportunities across operating budgets.
Planning & Forecasting Support: Assist the onshore FP&A leads during annual budget cycles and rolling forecast updates by building analytical models and cost projections.
Data Integration & Process Improvement: Identify automation opportunities between local BI tools (MicroStrategy, Tagetik, local databases) and financial reporting models to reduce manual handling.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or an equivalent quantitative field (e.g., MBA Finance, CA, CMA).
Experience:
Minimum 5 to 8+ years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Business Control, or Management Accounting within a multinational GCC / Shared Services environment.
Proven experience in a Senior Analyst, Lead, or Acting Supervisor capacity with direct responsibility for reviewing complex financial models and data outputs.
Direct hands-on experience executing complex, rules-based operational calculations and a track record of migrating, stabilizing, or auditing manual, undocumented processes from European onshore entities to an offshore GCC.
TECHNICAL SKILLSAdvanced Excel & Modeling Mastery (Essential): Advanced competency in complex formulas (INDEX/MATCH, VLOOKUP, nested logic, data cleansing), pivot tables (TCD), data base management, dynamic arrays, and reverse-engineering complex, macro-heavy spreadsheets.
Financial Systems & BI Tools: Hands-on experience navigating Business Intelligence systems (e.g., MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and consolidation software (e.g., Tagetik, Hyperion, SAP, or Anaplan).
Payroll & Variable Compensation Analytics: Strong logical ability to process rules-based compensation structures, tier-based incentive grids, and multi-entity payroll imports.
Process Mapping & Documentation: Superior ability to translate technical spreadsheet workflows into clean, step-by-step English SOPs and audit logs.
BEHAVIORAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIESOperational Resilience & Adaptability: Willingness to move seamlessly between high-level FP&A analytical tasks and hands-on, detail-oriented calculation execution as operational demands shift throughout the month.
