About the role
The COE (Centre of Expertise) Data Lead at Woodside is responsible for providing strategic direction and vision for the organization's data initiatives within the COE.
This role involves managing the budget and cost tracking for the COE Data Team, staying informed about the latest trends in data engineering and tools, and leading a team of Data professionals to deliver high-quality outcomes
The COE Data Lead collaborates with cross-functional leaders and drives the adoption of best practices and standards within the DSC.
The COE Data Lead role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership abilities, a focus on continuous innovation, and a commitment to driving excellence in business intelligence initiatives within the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the COE Data team to provide strategic direction and vision for data initiatives.
- Manage the budget and cost tracking for the COE Data Team to ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in data engineering techniques and tools.
- Lead and mentor a team of Data professionals, ensuring high-quality deliverables that align with business requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders, including DSC Data Science Lead, DSC BI Lead, Business Partners and engagement team to enhance value creation within the broader Digital team.
- Drive the adoption of data engineering best practices and standards across the COE Data Team.
- Ensure compliance with data governance policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Track, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the COE Data Team to assess effectiveness and drive improvements
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 10 years experience in Data Engineering.
- Proven leadership experience in managing Data teams and driving strategic initiatives.
- Strong budget management and cost tracking skills.
- Knowledge of the latest trends in data engineering techniques and tools.
- Proficiency in tracking and reporting key performance indicators for initiatives
- Experience in oil and gas industry essential
- Excellent team leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional leaders to drive value creation.
- Understanding of data governance policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Effective communication skills to convey strategic direction and vision.
