organization, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing, robust
controls, and strong service delivery to stakeholders in US. Drive operational
excellence, develop talent, and partner cross-functionally to deliver a controlled
transformation of payroll services.Core Responsibilities
People Leadership & Operations
Lead a team of associates supporting US Payroll; recruit, onboard, coach, and develop the team; drive engagement and performance.
Serve as the single point of contact for US stakeholders (SLC and business partners) for service levels, delivery cadence, and escalations; ensure daytodaoperations are wellmanaged and documented.
Establish cadence for dashboards, weekly governance, and monthly performance reviews; present metrics and improvement plans to leadership.
US Payroll Domain Ownership
Oversee endtoend US payroll processing and period close activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to SLAs (e.g., payroll runs, offcycles,
adjustments, garnishments).
Ensure payroll activity is properly recorded in the General Ledger; supervisere conciliations, research reconciling items, and drive timely issue resolution and
rootcause fixes.
Govern relationships with thirdparty payroll tax providers; ensure employer/employee tax compliance, filings, and responses to agency inquiries.
Maintain and improve controls across payroll operations (e.g., makerchecker, Variance analytics, exception handling, audit trails); partner with Quality/Controls
for certifications and audits. Drive data quality and analytics: trend reviews (net pay, taxes, deductions), exception logs, errorrate tracking, and continuous process stabilization.
Continuous Improvement & Transformation
Lead process streamlining and RCA (root cause analysis) initiatives;
implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce rework and improve cycle
times.
Partner with Technology and Automation teams (e.g., RPA/analytics) to deliver
measurable value; champion standard work, versioncontrolled SOPs, and
knowledge assets.
Ensure change adoption through crisp communications and readiness planning
with US stakeholders and the India team.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Work crossfunctionally with Accounting/GL, HR, IT/Access, and thirdparty
providers to resolve upstream/downstream issues and maintain a stable control
environment.
Align on hiring plan, skill matrices, and wavebased ramp with TA/HR; participate
in panel interviews for critical roles.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Ontime payroll success rate; rerun/adjustment rate; tax compliance
(filings/penalties)
Payroll GL reconciliation aging and accuracy; exception/backlog trend; audit
findings closure
SLA adherence (responsiveness, ticket turnaround); automation/CI savings
delivered
Engagement and attrition metrics; readiness of SOPs and crosstraining coverageTools / Systems Exposure (Preferred)
ERP/Accounting & Close: Oracle; reconciliation tools such as Cadency/
ReconNET for account certifications and exception management. Analytics & Productivity: Advanced Excel; comfort with data mining/queries;
familiarity with SQL or similar querying tools is beneficial. Qualifications / Experience
Education: Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance/Commerce; MBA preferred.
Experience: 10–12 years overall accounting/finance operations with proven
team leadership; demonstrable experience in US Payroll operations and
payroll accounting/control environments.
Certifications (nice to have): US Payroll certification; Lean/Six Sigma.
Competencies: Strong stakeholder management, communication, and coaching
skills; ability to operate in a fastpaced, ambiguous environment and lead
