Responsibilities
Research Planning & Design: Identify opportunities for research, define key questions, and create actionable plans selecting the most effective methodologies.
Execution & Data Collection: Conduct various design research methods, including ethnography, diary studies, user interviews, usability testing, and card sorting.
Synthesis & Analysis: Utilize both qualitative and quantitative approaches to make sense of collected data and identify meaningful patterns.
Insight Dissemination: Translate findings into compelling formats such as experience maps, personas, and usability reports to inform design and strategy.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with design leads, developers, and business stakeholders (approx. 25% of the role) to understand and support their research needs.
Roadmap Development: Build and maintain research roadmaps that align with both partner needs and broader organizational goals.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to interns or junior team members as required by the project.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Anthropology, Computer-Human Interaction, Human Factors, or a related field (Graduate degree preferred).
Experience: 3–5 years of professional research experience. We value academic research (thesis work/teaching) as part of this professional background.
Methodology Expertise: Deep knowledge of User-Centered Design (UCD) and human factors research methods.
Technical Tools: Proficiency with tools such as Figma, FigJam, Confluence, and standard research data collection platforms.
Communication: Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate technical data into stories for diverse audiences.
Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent studies and balance shifting priorities.
Preferred Assets: Experience within the financial services industry and familiarity with inferential statistics or statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, or SAS).
