Responsibilities
Solution Design & Development
Enterprise Reporting: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Power BI dashboards and reports for critical business areas including SAP Finance, HR, Payroll, Maximo, and VISION.
Semantic Layer Mastery: Build and document robust Power BI semantic layers and schemas to ensure data consistency and accuracy across self-serve analytics modules.
Platform Modernization: Lead the migration of legacy reporting from MicroStrategy 2020+ to the Microsoft Power BI ecosystem.
Modeling & Datasets: Model complex data structures and create optimized datasets using Microsoft Fabric tools, Lakehouse, and Dataflows Gen2.
Microsoft Fabric & Advanced Analytics
Notebook Development: Write scalable Python/Spark code within Fabric Notebooks for ETL, data validation, and feature engineering.
Data Pipelines: Configure and manage Fabric items and pipelines to handle data ingestion, transformation, and scheduling across the enterprise data platform.
Deployment Management: Implement and administer Power BI environments, including the setup of deployment pipelines and workspace governance.
Collaboration & Delivery
Technical Specifications: Convert complex business requirements into detailed technical design documents and functional specifications.
Stakeholder Support: Act as a subject matter expert to support end-users with Power BI self-serve analytics and provide BI tool training.
Documentation: Create project artifacts according to Project Management Office (PMO) standards, including data models and knowledge transfer summaries.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Business Intelligence Developer, with extensive experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
Mandatory Certification: Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) is required.
Technical Stack:
Primary: Microsoft Power BI, Azure Synapse, SQL Server 2019+.
Advanced: Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Notebooks, PySpark), Python for ETL.
Legacy (Asset): MicroStrategy 2020 or later.
Data Modeling: Expert understanding of star schemas, snowflake schemas, and data warehousing interfacing.
Education: University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Compliance: Knowledge of (or ability to rapidly acquire) the Ontario Human Rights Code and AODA accessibility requirements for digital reporting.
Deliverables
Finance & HR Analytics: Self-serve dashboards for SAP Finance, Payroll, HR, and legacy payroll systems.
Operational Reporting: Attendance, Vacancy, and Absenteeism reporting combining multiple data streams.
