Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Payroll Processing
- Process multi-state regular, bi-weekly, or monthly payroll for full-time, part-time, and hourly employees.
- Validate timesheets, hourly wages, overtime calculations, commissions, bonuses, and salary adjustments.
- Calculate and process final paychecks, severance, wage garnishments, and retroactive pay when required.
2. Compliance & Tax Administration
- Ensure payroll operations comply with federal, state, and local labor laws, including wage and hour regulations.
- Calculate, withhold, and file appropriate payroll taxes, social security contributions, and statutory deductions.
- 3. Benefits & Deductions Management
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate payroll deductions for medical benefits, retirement plans (e.g., 401k), health savings accounts (HSAs), and life insurance.
- Reconcile payroll deductions against benefit carrier invoices to verify billing accuracy.
4. Record Keeping & Reporting
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including direct deposit preferences, tax withholdings, and paid time off (PTO) balances.
- Prepare routine and ad-hoc payroll reports for finance, HR, and audit teams (e.g., labor costs, tax reports, accruals).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external payroll audits.
5. Employee Inquiry & Support
- Address employee questions and resolve inquiries regarding paychecks, tax withholdings, and deduction errors promptly and professionally.
- Continuously audit internal processes to improve efficiency and minimize payroll errors.
